20mm crushed basalt. The heavy grade for structural concrete and hard-wearing drainage.

The 20mm grade of crushed basalt, sized for structural concrete, civil works and drainage that has to cope with real volume. Basalt is denser and tougher than most crushed rock.
Basalt is denser and tougher than most crushed rock, so it holds up under load and repeated traffic. The dark colour also suits chunkier exposed aggregate and decorative work.

Sold by the cubic metre or tonne, delivered and tipped by our own fleet, or picked up from Hope Valley, where there's no minimum. Supplied to order from WA quarries, so tell us your tonnage and we'll confirm stock and delivery timing. Tell us your quantity and suburb and we'll come back with a price.
Not sure how much you need? The volume calculator works out cubic metres and tonnes from your measurements and drops the result straight into a quote request. At 100mm deep, one tonne of basalt (20mm) covers about 6.7 square metres.
It weighs around 1.5 tonnes per cubic metre. A drainage run 0.4 metres wide, 0.4 metres deep and 15 metres long needs about 2.4 cubic metres, roughly 3.6 tonnes. Use our calculator for your own run. That's under our 12 tonne minimum for a delivered load, so take a full load if you can use the extra, or collect it yourself from Hope Valley, where no minimum applies.
Yes, 12 tonnes on a delivered load. That covers all our gravels, quartz and basalt. We can go under that if you really need to, but the transport cost per tonne is a lot higher so we don't recommend it for a small job. There's no minimum if you collect it yourself from Hope Valley.
Yes, it's used as gabion and feature fill as well as structural concrete, civil works and heavy duty drainage.
Basalt is denser and harder wearing than most crushed rock, so it holds up under load and repeated traffic better in demanding applications.
Yes, the dark colour suits chunkier exposed aggregate and decorative finishes as well as structural uses.
