We take clean construction and demolition waste at our Hope Valley facility, weigh it over the bridge, and put it back through the yard as product. It does not go to landfill. That has been the business for three generations and it is why the yard exists.
We are a licensed solid waste depot. Department of Water and Environmental Regulation licence L6544/1993/11 covers us for Category 62, solid waste depot, and Category 13, crushing of building material. If you are a builder or a demolisher who has to show where your material went, that licence number is the thing to write on your paperwork.

That is our tipping schedule as it stands. Rates depend on the material and how clean it is, and mixed loads cost more than sorted ones. Ring us or send a photo before you load out if you are not sure which category your material falls into. It is a two minute call and it is cheaper than a truck turning around at the gate.
Clean brick and clean asphalt are free to tip. Everything else on the list above is charged.
No asbestos, and no load we suspect contains asbestos. If there is any chance of it, it needs a licensed asbestos removalist and a facility licensed to receive it, and that is not us.
No putrescible waste, no general rubbish, no chemicals or contaminated soil.
Our tipping schedule does not cover sand, soil or heavily mixed demolition waste, and mixed rubble is capped at 30 percent sand. That is not the end of the conversation though. We can usually still arrange cartage of that material to another facility, truck and all, the same as we would for a load Hope Valley does take. Tipping is charged per cubic metre, estimated at the gate. That is different to the weighbridge, which weighs every load in tonnes for the docket. So a driver reading this before they arrive should expect a cubic metre rate on the invoice and a weighed tonnage printed on the docket alongside it, not the same figure twice.
Come in through the yard, over the weighbridge, tip where you are directed, back over the bridge on the way out. You get a docket for every load with the material, the weight and the date on it. Payment is at the gate. Our gate hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm, and Saturday by appointment.
Keep the dockets. If you are working to a waste management plan or reporting a recycling rate on a project, a docket from a licensed depot saying the material was recycled is the evidence the head contractor will ask you for.
Two reasons, and only one of them is the gate price. A clean concrete or brick load tipped at a recycler is normally well under what the same load costs at a landfill once the levy is on it, because we want the material and they are charging you to bury it.
The second is that you can load out on the same trip. Tip the demolition material, load road base or crushed brick on the way out, and the truck earns on both legs instead of running back empty.
It gets crushed and screened and goes back out as product. Concrete becomes road base. Brick becomes crushed brick and brick fines. Waste asphalt screens into recycled asphalt road base and track material.
Clean concrete, concrete with mesh or reo, oversize concrete, clean brick, limestone, mixed rubble up to 30 percent sand, terracotta tiles, hot mix asphalt and bitumen, and road millings. Ring first if your load does not obviously sit in one of those.
Asbestos, putrescible waste, general rubbish, chemicals and contaminated soil, never. Sand, soil and heavily mixed demolition waste do not fit our tipping schedule at Hope Valley, but we can usually still arrange cartage of that material to another facility. Ask us before you assume it is a lost cause.
